Library Director

The Mechanicsburg Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking an innovative and motivated director candidate with a vision for leading the library into the next levels of technology and service.  The Mechanicsburg Public Library is a school district library in the small community of Mechanicsburg in rural Champaign County.  The historic, charming library building has under gone interior and exterior updates within the last two years in order to reflect the needs of our community.

A Masters degree in Library Sciences from an American Library Association accredited university is preferred.  The ideal candidate should have:  At least three years experience in a supervisory role at a library;  Excellent verbal and written communication skills;  The ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;   Strong leadership qualities and the ability to work collaboratively with others. 

The Director is responsible for the supervision of public service, programs, and management of collections of materials and resources. The Director will work with the Board of Trustees and the Fiscal Officer to develop and review specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish budget, personnel and facilities management.  The Director should create constructive and cooperative working relationships with organizations and businesses in the community to extend resources and maximize public service.  All employees of the Mechanicsburg Public Library must submit to and pass a background check and drug screening. 

The position offers a salary range of $32,200-$72,800 dependent on experience and qualifications.  Benefits include health, vison, dental and life insurance (two months after hire, prior service credit exempt), retirement through Ohio Public Employees Retirement System and paid leave.
